 Who We Are
 

John Kinder - Chairman
Founder and Director of the investment company Rivertrade Limited since 2000. Formerly a director of the Man Group plc from 1987 to 1999, and managing director of its sugar division 1987-1999. He was until March 2004 a non-executive director of Greencore plc, a company listed in London and Dublin that owned Irish Sugar and specialises in convenience foods and food ingredients.

John also sits on many of the Boards of the companies in which Rivertrade has invested and is actively involved in charities including Eric Evans Trust and Tennis For Free. John is a graduate of Cambridge University.

 

 

Richard Oxley - Managing Director
Richard has been involved in the sugar industry since 1977 when he joined the family sugar broking business as a floor trader on the London futures market. In 1985 he started his own broking company called Newbridge International Ltd which expanded beyond just sugar broking into all the agricultural products along with the energy sector, currencies and precious metals. Having sold the company to Refco UK Ltd in 2000 he became an independent consultant until joining Sugaronline in October 2004 as Managing Director. Richard’s grandfather used to work for Cuban sugar company Galban Lobo and his father was responsible for setting up the West African operation for Tate & Lyle so comes from a family whose roots are firmly planted in the sugar industry and brings this wealth of experience and expertise to Sugaronline.

 

 

Meghan Sapp - Editor
Meghan Sapp has been Editor of Sugaronline.com since 2006 and as such is responsible for sourcing all news, coordinating our team of five international correspondents, and penning our Friday Editorial as well as the Biofuel and Technology columns.

Meghan has been an agricultural journalist for more than 15 years and first began writing about sugar and other soft commodities for Dow Jones in 2003. She is also a senior editor of Biofuel Digest. In her free time, she is Secretary General of Partners for Euro-African Green Energy (PANGEA), an NGO she founded in Brussels in 2008 to support the development of Africa’s bioenergy industries.

Bob Moser - Brazil Correspondent
Based in São Paulo, Bob has served as the lead news correspondent for Sugaronline.com in Brazil since June 2009.

He started his professional reporting career in 2006, covering oil, energy and local business for a US daily newspaper in Lafayette, La. After winning an Associated Press Managing Editors' regional award in 2008 for his coverage of sugarcane ethanol in Louisiana, Bob moved to Brazil in mid-2008 to begin working as a freelance journalist covering commodity, energy and business news.

 

 

Padma Nagappan - India Correspondent
Padma covers the Indian sugar industry, which is constantly in flux, from export policy to sugar politics, and cane farming to the push for decontrol.

She is a multimedia journalist who specializes in biotech, renewable energy and green business reporting. Her work is published in the Union-Tribune San Diego, Apparel Magazine, San Diego Daily Transcript, The Energy Report, Greenbiz.com; and has aired on KPBS, San Diego's public radio and television channel and Channel 16.

She has won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, including the best serious radio feature story and first place for environmental print reporting in 2012.
