Sugarbeet cooperatives in the Red River Valley are posting some phenomenal yields in the pre-pile harvest, according to WDAY TV.
American Crystal is already seeing yields averaging 20 short tons per acre and Minn-Dak in Wahpeton is running in the mid 20's. The pre-pile harvest started on August 17th, the earliest it's ever been.
About 10% of the crop is brought in during pre-pile, but this year's pre-pile will likely bring in about 15%. The full harvest starts October 1st.
It's likely that farmers won't be allowed to harvest all of their acres this season.
