Guyana's President Donald Ramotar says the challenges facing the Skeldon Sugar Factory are being addressed since this is critical to Guyana's development, according to Guyana's National Communications Network.

While addressing GUYSUCO's training centre's 51st convocation in Berbice, the President stated that a concerted effort is being made to ensure the factory meet its full potential.

President Ramotar also reassured that measures in the pipeline to boost the industry will be materialized in the near future.

The Skeldon factory which was commissioned in 2009, encountered challenges and Government has since turned to a South African firm to design the modifications of the feeder system that leads to the boiler, the conveyor system and the condensate tank.
