The vast majority of sugar mills agreed to export 100,000 metric tonnes of sugar until August 31, said the President of Centro Azucarera Argentino (CAA), Fernando Nebbia, after a meeting between representatives of 22 of the country's 23 mills, according to Agra-Net.
He pointed out that the mills which owed sugar export volumes last year reaffirmed their decision to comply with these shipments. The volume of sugar to be sent abroad at the beginning of the new 2012/13 campaign corresponds in part to the committed but non-exported production in 2011/12, and sugars of the new season, he added.
Approximately 7% of the volume will come from Tucuman, while the rest will be exported from plantations in the North, namely Jujuy and Salta.
