Thailand is likely to export 5 million metric tonnes of sugar in 2010/11 because of increased demand from Southeast Asia, according to Dow Jones.
"There is a good demand from Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia and Japan. There is also a possibility of exports to Pakistan and Bangladesh because of our proximity," Prakit Pradipasen, chairman of Thai Sugar Millers Corporations Ltd. told reporters on the sidelines of a conference.
The final sugar output of Thailand is seen at 7 million to 7.2 million tonnes, despite unfavorable weather conditions earlier, he added.
