S&P Global Platts sees China leading Asian ethanol demand

China, the world’s fourth largest ethanol producer and consumer of after Brazil, the European Union and the United States, has become the major driver of gasoline and ethanol fuel demand in Asia after it introduced its 10% ethanol mandate for 2020 to deal with vehicular pollution and piled up corn stocks which have reached a record at 223 million tonnes in 2017. However, to achieve 10% ethanol by 2020, the Middle Kingdom would be consuming 15% of the global ethanol output, reports Sugaronline.
