FO Licht sees 2009/10 sugar production at 156 million tonnes

FO Licht says world 2009/10 sugar production is expected at 156 million metric tonnes raw value, down from the November forecast of 159.7 million tonnes, according to Dow Jones.
The revision is due to lower than expected output from Asian countries and Brazil, said the firm.
However, the 2009/10 production forecast remains above 2008/09 production of 150.9 million tonnes.
World 2009/10 sugar output is expected to fall 7.7 million tonnes short of demand, compared with a 13.2 million tonne deficit the previous year, said the firm.
