The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates the 2026/27 global sugar production will reach 184.85 million metric tonnes, down 1.2 million tonnes from 2025/26, driven by lower output in Brazil, the European Union, the United States, and Thailand, more than offsetting higher production in India, according to biannual Sugar: World Markets and Trade report released in May.Tags: forecast, global sugar surplus, USDA, 2025/26
