India is expected to export significantly higher sugar volumes in the upcoming crushing season due to the strong recovery in its cane and sugar output, supported by improved crop yields and recoveries. However, that may not mean better margins and profitability for the country’s millers.

Driven by increased acreage, likely improvements in crop yields and recoveries due to favourable 2024 monsoon rains, alongside successful cane variety replacement to combat red rot disease in Uttar Pradesh, India is projected to process more sugar in the upcoming sugar season starting October 1, 2025.
