According to industry sources Kenya’s sugar sector continues to face structural deficits, with domestic production covering only about 72 percent of consumption in 2024.

Output is projected to fall sharply in CY 2025, down nearly 20 percent to below 815,485 metric tons (MT) due to lower extraction rates, and early cane harvesting.
