USDA Sugar Reports

25th April 2008

All of USDA’s sugar reports in one place: a mix of monthly Sugar and Sweeteners Outlooks, import/export data and international GAIN reports. Using data collected by US Foreign Service officers working in more than 130 countries the USDA’S Global Agriculture Information Network (GAIN) reports provide timely information on the agricultural economy, products and issues in foreign countries that are likely to have an impact on United States agricultural production and trade.

This is primarily due to unfavorable weather. Production for MY 2007 has been revised upward to 2.365 million tons, due to an expansion in planted area in response to increased ethanol demand. Total exports for MY 2008 are forecast at 1.4 million tons. South Korea, Canada and the United States are the principal export destinations.
