Guatemala’s sugar industry is expected to continue expanding in marketing year 2026/27, with production forecast at 2.821 million metric tons, driven by an increase in harvested area to approximately 262,000 hectares.
The sector remains one of the three most efficient sugar producers globally and continues to advance sustainability initiatives, while refined sugar now accounts for approximately 70 percent of total exports.
