USDA Sugar Reports

Sugar Annual 2016, Nigeria

6th June 2016

All of USDA’s sugar reports in one place: a mix of monthly Sugar and Sweeteners Outlooks, import/export data and international GAIN reports. Using data collected by US Foreign Service officers working in more than 130 countries the USDA’S Global Agriculture Information Network (GAIN) reports provide timely information on the agricultural economy, products and issues in foreign countries that are likely to have an impact on United States agricultural production and trade.

MY2016/17 sugar production is expected to remain relatively flat at 70,000 tons, which signals limited progress of Nigeria’s backward integration plans for sugar production. MY2016/17 raw sugar imports are estimated to decline marginally by three percent, largely due to limited availability of foreign exchange used for food and agricultural imports.
