Indonesia’s sugar sector remains highly regulated, with the government controlling imports and domestic market fundamentals.  While sugar production is expected to increase slightly in 2018/19, output is forecast to fall in 2019/20 due to dwindling land availability.  Meanwhile, population growth and the food and beverage sector’s robust expansion continues to fuel demand growth.
