Sugar Semi-Annual Report 2018, Pakistan

All of USDA’s sugar reports in one place: a mix of monthly Sugar and Sweeteners Outlooks, import/export data and international GAIN reports. Using data collected by US Foreign Service officers working in more than 130 countries the USDA’S Global Agriculture Information Network (GAIN) reports provide timely information on the agricultural economy, products and issues in foreign countries that are likely to have an impact on United States agricultural production and trade.

Refined sugar production is forecast at 6.5 million metric tons for marketing year 2018/19 (MY Oct/Sept), down 12 percent from the current year’s estimate of 7.4 million metric tons (MMT) due to a projected 10 percent decrease in area. During 2017/18, record sugar exports of 1.8 MMT are estimated with a government supported export subsidy of $97 per metric ton in order to reduce sugar stocks.
