Sugar Semi- Annual Report, South Africa

By USDA

8th October 2019

All of USDA’s sugar reports in one place: a mix of monthly Sugar and Sweeteners Outlooks, import/export data and international GAIN reports. Using data collected by US Foreign Service officers working in more than 130 countries the USDA’S Global Agriculture Information Network (GAIN) reports provide timely information on the agricultural economy, products and issues in foreign countries that are likely to have an impact on United States agricultural production and trade.

Post estimates that the South African sugar cane crop will increase by 5 percent to 19.9 million Metric Tons (MT) in the 2019/20 Marketing Year (MY), due to normal weather conditions, better crop management practices, improved sugar cane yields and increases in area planted for small scale growers who received support from the industry.
