As EU sugar prices fall, calls for an EU policy “reset” intensify
European domestic sugar prices have continued to fall. They are now well below costs of production, resulting in deteriorating financial performance of sugar producers and in farmers questioning if it’s worth growing sugar beet in future. The EU sugar beet processors have responded to these lower prices with negotiations for lower sugar beet planting areas
