Sugaronline India Report – The hiked monthly sales quota adds to the regulatory woes of Indian sugar industry

Higher sales quota will increase further pressure on sugar prices and lower operating margins.

With reining in food inflation being one of the key policy priorities, the Indian government has raised the monthly sugar sales quota to 2.35 million tonnes for the month of September. It is aimed at ensuring adequate supply of the sweetener in the domestic market and check its prices from rising when festive demand kicks
