In a set of policy adjustments, New Delhi has permitted the export of 1.5 million tonnes of sugar and eliminated the export duty on molasses. However, it has also raised the regulated price of sugarcane, raising input costs for mills at a time of moderating global sugar prices.

New Delhi has approved the export of 1.5 million tonnes of sugar for the current crushing season. However, this falls short of the industry's requested quota of 2 million tonnes, underscoring the government’s cautious approach to allowing sugar exports, as highlighted by our previous report. All millers have been allocated a uniform quota of 5.286%
