With no decision on export subsidies, sugar mills have been left holding the bag (of sugar).

The Indian government hurriedly raised the fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane in August to INR285 a quintal for the sugar season 2020/21 but it hasn’t shown similar urgency in announcing the export subsidy for sugar mills despite multiple requests and representations from the industry to do so amidst continued supply glut and depressed
