Unfavourable regulations to dampen prospects of UP sugar milling sector

Not only is UP policy going to ruin its sugar industry, but it’s also running counter to national policy.

Despite lower sugar production both domestically and globally and improving export prospects that should provide support to sugar prices, even if marginally, the milling sector in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh may not benefit much. The major reason is unfavourable local regulations with respect to allocation of molasses and electricity generated from burning bagasse
